Reliable to the Core
A Business Built on Leadership: Our Leadership
Patrick Harris is the Owner and an Operator at Concrete Renovation, Inc. along with his wife of 34 years, Donna and their daughter, Roxanne.
Pat knew from age 5 that he wanted to ‘build things’. In his early years, he worked with his stepfather who was a trim carpenter but he always knew his calling was to be in construction. Initially, Pat got into concrete cutting though friends from Church. These friends owned their own concrete cutting business and offered Pat a job within their company. Upon reflection, Pat understood that trim carpentry with his stepfather was hard work, and the tools were expensive, so he decided to transition from carpentry to concrete cutting as he felt it would be a better fit for him overall and in the long term. In 1990, Pat and Donna bought out a company that eventually became Concrete Renovation, Inc.
Pat would tell you, and humbly so, ‘everything happens for a reason and my reason lies within my faith.’ That has brought him soundly and successfully to where he is today both personally and professionally.
Donna Harris has been fortunate to work alongside her husband, Patrick as they started and grew their business, Concrete Renovation, Inc. in San Antonio, Texas. She has 30 years of experience in the concrete cutting industry.
In the beginning, Donna gained field experience doing Patrick’s water control, tool loading and unloading, as well as assisting with Core Drilling, Slab Sawing, and Wall Sawing. These days, she can be found handling dispatch for the company as well as being in charge of, and managing, event planning, marketing, and accounting for the business and its employees. Additionally, Donna is an active and integral member of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association having served on the Board’s Safety Committee for over 10 years, as a Committee Chair Woman (Election Committee), and as a Co-Chair Woman (Certification and Membership Committees). Donna has worked diligently over the years to prove her knowledge and virtue to the concrete industry when their were very few women circulating within its sphere. She has absolutely created a lasting impression, and ongoing space, for any and all women who hope to move into the profession now and in the future.
I was born and raised in small town in Cookeville, TN. I grew up playing in the mud so it was no surprise I found a love for concrete. My step dad and mother started a small concrete business when I was in middle school, and by the time I entered into high school it wasn’t so small anymore.
I went to Tennessee Tech after graduation and struggled to figure out what exactly my path was. After a couple of years going back and forth between majors my step dad suggested I tag along with him on job sites to see if I would have any interest. I fell in love the first day! I loved being outside, working in different locations and the satisfaction of completing a beautiful job. I quickly began to run the business for them. I would meet with contractors, measure and order for concrete and materials, help our crew pour and finish, create estimates and invoices, and in charge of pay roll. My path suddenly became clear to me… I wanted to take over the family business one day and run it completely on my own.
For the following eight years I lived and breathed concrete and the business, but God had other plans for me. I met the love of my life, and for the first time moved away from home and everything I knew and loved.
Once I settled in San Antonio, TX I realized that I didn’t have my family business to rely on or take over anymore. But God was working while I was stressing! He guided me to the most incredible bosses, a home away from home and an amazing business Concrete Renovation Inc.
Just when I thought I knew everything about concrete, Patrick and Donna Harris taught me so much more. I am now the foreman for their company, found a love for Core Drilling and still able to get my hands dirty playing in “mud.”
